Redgum Ridge - Winnejup

Nestled in the quiet bush and farm land of Winnejup, this project was an opportunity to thoughtfully expand an existing cottage while preserving its connection to the landscape. The brief called for a new one-bedroom, one-bathroom dwelling, subtly connected to the original home via a long, walkway that acts as both a link and a pause between structures.

From the outset, the design intention was to create a modest, contemporary addition that would sit gently within its rural setting. A restrained material palette of mini-orb cladding and warm plywood linings was chosen to reflect the simplicity of the surrounding farm buildings while offering a sense of warmth and tactility internally.

The building is carefully positioned to open up to the bush, with generous openings framing views and drawing natural light deep into the home. The result is a quiet, considered retreat that balances a respect for its history with the clarity and openness of modern rural living.
